TEDx Talk

Pediatric emergency physician Samir Shaheen-Hussain critically examines how a practice that separated children from their families during emergency medevac airlifts and disproportionately impacted Indigenous communities in northern Quebec became an example of “medical colonialism”. His talk highlights how solidarity with anti-colonial and decolonization struggles through Indigenous-led self-determination and resurgence movements, including via instruments like Joyce’s Principle in healthcare, are in the best interests of everyone seeking to build a just and caring world.
